Sensex at day's high, soars 561 pts on all-round buying

Equity benchmark indices witnessed a sharp recovery in Thursday's late noon trading session on the back of buying interest in banking and select IT and FMCG share.



At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74414.46 up by 561.52 points or by 0.76 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22594.1 up by 191.7 points or by 0.86 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74571.25 and intraday low of 73556.15 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22625.95 and intraday low of 22305.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1124.25,+5.69%), State Bank of India (Rs. 811.55,+4.96%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 908.90,+2.93%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2561.30,+2.33%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2105.05,+2.22%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1637.00,-11.18%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2234.45,-1.09%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3579.15,-0.79%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2865.60,-0.06%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12932.30,-0.06%), among others.

PSU index was at 19695.14 up by 368.34 points or by 1.91%. Indian Overseas Bank (Rs. 67.10,+6.07%), State Bank of India (Rs. 812.25,+5.05%), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (Rs. 2420.00,+4.88%), UCO Bank (Rs. 56.78,+4.26%), Cochin Shipyard Ltd. (Rs. 1326.00,+4.14%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4124 , shares advanced were 2160 while 1798 shares declined and 166 were unchanged.
