Sensex, Nifty in green; Bharti Airtel, HCL TECK top gainers

The benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices traded in the positive territory backed by strong global cues. As corporate earnings season progresses, analysts believe stock-specific action will take place. However, they recommend caution, given the geopolitical uncertainties and the onset of general elections.



At 11:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73843.79 up by 195.17 points or by 0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22399.55 up by 63.15 points or by 0.28 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74059.89 and intraday low of 73736.24 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22447.55 and intraday low of 22355.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1333.15,+2.67%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1493.75,+1.91%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 347.95,+1.43%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 984.80,+1.16%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2266.85,+1.08%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1514.45,-1.63%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2937.50,-0.78%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3596.90,-0.45%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2083.45,-0.36%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9548.10,-0.20%), among others.



Realty index was at 7517.49 up by 178.28 points or by 2.43%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1698.90,+4.87%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1235.60,+3.39%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 893.00,+3.25%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 3177.80,+2.50%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1455.20,+2.12%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 28433.74 down by -65.06 points or by -0.23%. Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 295.00,-0.92%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2937.50,-0.78%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 600.70,-0.54%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 170.20,-0.38%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 276.00,-0.38%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3887 , shares advanced were 2414 while 1315 shares declined and 158 were unchanged.
